馬修斯身高2米01，體重106公斤，是今年的落選秀，是密西西比州立大學(xué)的隊史搶斷王，曾兩次入選NCAA一級聯(lián)盟東南聯(lián)盟的最佳防守一陣，這兩個賽季，他的場均搶斷次數(shù)都在2次以上。
在密西西比州立大學(xué)的最后一年，馬修斯場均貢獻7.1分6.7籃板2.4搶斷。自90-91賽季以來，僅便士和CJ等在內(nèi)的9名D1聯(lián)盟的球員達成過這類數(shù)據(jù)。
